Income

I was wondering where we can see how the graph calculates income....as to what transactions it is looking at?

My income graph for March is showing way more than it should, from my understanding. I realize it probably adds my starting balance (new to MW) as income....but even with including that, my income is still greater than it should be.

If MW can magically add some income to my budget....GREAT! but I have a feeling something else is going on.

Thanks.

It's the total of all transactions in your income buckets. You can select all the income buckets, then select all the transactions in them to check the sum. I did it once when I thought the numbers seemed weird.

    I don't understand.

When I have "All Transactions" (all accounts too) highlighted, the graph at the bottom shows me my expenses (blue bar) and income (green bar) for several months. When I then roll my mouse over the March expense/income bars....it shows me an income that is much higher than I think it should. For ex, it shows: (excluding decimals)

    Income: 13, 274
    Expenses: 3482
    Difference: 9792

When I select my "Salary" bucket it shows:

    Planned - 5150
    Income -7838
    Extra - 2688
    Money Out - 5229
    Starting Balance - 3687
    Ending - 216

This I understand. It shows 7838 for income and it is correct for March (estimated).

Actually, I just found out what it is doing. It is adding my 7838 to 5435 to come up with the magical 13,274 total income for March.

But, the 5435 is from an investment savings account (529 college plan) where I entered the initial balance of 5435 in March.

So, how do I exclude this 5435 from showing up as income on the bar graph for "All Transactions"?

    Thanks.

Don't assign the starting balance to an income bucket.

I did not assign it to an income bucket.

    It is unassigned.

Not sure, then. My findings were that the income portion of the graph is the
total of all transactions assigned to any of your income buckets.

what i did now is just delete that investment account and re-add it.

it took care of the problem....and the income is calculating correctly.

Interesting! Might you have assigned it to a bucket at some point?

At any rate, glad you were able to get it working!
